Wanted to warn everybody - responded to a wood stove listing a couple weeks back, sent a deposit through a cash app link the seller sent me to hold it, and then the guy just went dark. No stove, no response, account looks deleted now. Lesson learned the hard way. |

sorry man that stinks. rule of thumb, never send money before you see the item in person, especially for something that big |

Sorry to hear this happened. Just a reminder to everyone, the board does not process any payments and has no way to verify sellers, so please always meet in person and pay cash on pickup for anything like this. If you can send me the username in a private message I will look into removing any other listings from that account. |

This happened to a friend of mine last year too, almost the exact same story with a generator. They're getting bolder about it. |

did you end up filing a police report? might be worth it even if you dont expect to get the money back, at least its on record |

yes filed a report yesterday. for anyone wondering the username was something like stovebargainguy, keep an eye out if you see it pop up again under a different name |

Didn't used to be like this when a deal was sealed with a handshake and folks actually knew each other's families. Shame it's come to this, but glad you got it reported.
